Overview:
ATMI is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to ensure proper computer operation so that customers can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving customer help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools. This position will support both our Burnet and Round Rock, TX locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Field incoming help requests from customers via SDE tickets, and walk-ups in a courteous manner.
  • Document all pertinent customer identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from customers.
  • Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.
  • Record, track, and document the request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and FAQ resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level. Including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Install /troubleshoot anti-virus; spyware, malware software.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved.
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.
  • Develop help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for customers.

  • Recognize and understand the design and build functions within all Bombardier sites

Qualifications 
As our ideal candidate, 
  • You hold a University degree in an engineering discipline (Master or Doctorate degree will be an asset);
  • You have extensive experience in a test environment in the aerospace industry;
  • You have experience in an aerospace manufacturing company (strong asset for junior position and a requirement for senior position);
  • You have a good knowledge of certification requirements including FAR 25 and ARP 4754;
  • You have experience or knowledge with load control systems (MTS, FCS or alike), data acquisition systems and instrumentation;
  • You have good knowledge of communication busses (ARINC 429, AFDX) and the means to test them;
  • You have knowledge of aircraft systems and aircraft structures (for Structural test position, Ground and Flight test integrator position);
  • You have good knowledge in aerodynamics (for wind tunnel test position)
  • You have the ability to work occasionally at off-site international locations;
  • You have strong communication skills (written and spoken).

BSS Infrastructure Specialist - IBM, Sterling Forest, NY


Job description
IBM is seeking an Infrastructure Specialist to analyze, design, build, deploy and provide ongoing maintenance and support for the Business Continuity Resilience Services IT server and network infrastructure. This will include the opportunity to work with the BCRS hardware, operating systems, middleware and application software. Position requires the application of advanced analytical/problem solving skills, knowledge and application of Project Management Methodology, strong communications and technical leadership skills and ability to work independently.

You will exploit existing and new technologies and applications in the Lotus Notes, WEB, SAP, PRISM, and BRIO/DataMart infrastructure to address BCRS business requirements and implement quality deliverables that enhance efficiency and effectiveness of all BCRS employees. 

The position requires that you perform BCRS datacenter server and software administration, monitor BCRS systems performance and security compliance, plan and perform physical server relocations and coordinate associated networking, security, and fault tolerance changes.

You will expand infrastructure capabilities by leveraging improved system management and auditing practices, and harden BCRS Infrastructure through further integration of live system backup plans. 

You will improve remote administration capabilities for refreshed server hardware platforms, streamline server maintenance and deployment activities for BCRS Infrastructure Operations Team. Leverage peers on the IT operations team as well as BCRS Service Delivery to monitor and mitigate server security vulnerabilities and provide backup for Microsoft Windows server administrator. 

You will develop, document and execute infrastructure maintenance routines. Follow established problem solving and remote end user and server support methodology, utilizing advanced remote support tools and assist other members of the operations support team, as required.

Hands-on support is also required. You will provide on-site technical support to the BCRS Emergency Operations Center during Business Condition yellow and red. Provide end user support on BCRS workstation and server platforms, including business application support to minimize user down time and enhance end user productivity.

Candidates must be located within commuting distance to Sterling Forest location. Minimal travel is required.

Required
  • At least 1 year experience in the installation, configuration and ongoing administration of one or more of the following: AIX, UNIX, Websphere, MQSeries, DB2, IBM Content Manager, Microsoft Windows, Lotus Notes Domino
  • Basic knowledge in the following: IBM BladeServers, IBM BladeCenter Platform, IBM Intel xSeries Servers, IBM AIX pSeries Systems, Linus RHEL Systems, IBM Total Storage San appliances, Total Storage DASD Arrays
  • Basic knowledge in the following: Network Cisco Switches, Boundary Device Administration, Nortel Switching Hardware, Physical Fiber and 1-10gb Network Connections, Systems Management Adapters and KVM appliances
  • Basic knowledge in and the ability to apply IBM ITCS 104 Security Standards across all of the above
  • Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
  • English: Fluent

Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
