As an IT Computer Operator with Diebold Inc, you will be responsible for monitoring applications, hardware and network on all operating platforms located in the Corporate Data Center to analyze potential problems and take corrective action. You will also be expected to record, communicate, and resolve all operational problems and system status daily.
Some essential functions of this position include:
- Monitor applications, batch job processing, email, internet/intranet and all business system applications on all operating platforms
- Monitor network communications including lines, routers, phone, voice and dial-up on all operating platforms
- Monitor hardware equipment, including servers, controllers, printers and tape systems
- Pull daily backup tapes for off-site retention and load tape libraries as needed
- Participate daily in operations shift turnover meetings
- Break down and distribute printed reports to mail room and business units
- Perform daily printer maintenance
- Provide support to other business units as required
- Identify problems and take proper corrective action. Interact with all IT associates and customers to resolve problems.
- Place equipment service calls to appropriate hardware vendors
- Log application, production jobs and hardware problems
- Communicate status of applications, hardware outages and production job problems daily to IT management
- Communicate system status and planned and unplanned outages to user community
- Update procedures and documentation as required
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in related area preferred
- 6 months to 1 year experience required
- Software Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as well as basic knowledge of Unix
- Ability to follow established practice
- Ability to investigate and use some independent judgment
- Ability to work nights and weekends is required
