As a Structural Test Engineer, you will be asked to:
  • Be responsable for the advanced planning and testing of various aircraft structures for small scale rigs up to full scale aircraft level structural tests such as Complete Aircraft Static Test (CAST) and Durability And Damage Tolerance Test (DADTT).
  • Participate in the preliminary definition of the rig with Stress and experimental Design groups
  • Participate in the definition and selection of data acquisition systems, load control systems, and measurement methods
  • Review and comment on test requirements, schedules, aircraft structures installation and perform commissioning and structural testing while ensuring test data quality
  • Write Test Plans, Test Reports and test procedures, provide test status to supervision and integration and work closely with Shop, Quality Control and Stress Engineering functions to progress testing as per agreed plan
  • Be responsible for Development, Safety of Flight, and Certification testing of new aircraft development programs, and for testing required to resolve in-service aircraft issues.

As a Systems Test Engineer, you will be asked to:
  • Be responsable for the advanced planning and testing of various aircraft systems for small scale rigs up to full aircraft Integrated Systems Test Rigs (ISTR). Systems include flight controls, fly-by-wire, high lift, hydraulics, avionics, electrical and propulsion systems
  • Participate in the preliminary definition of the rig with the different System Engineering and Design groups
  • Participate in the definition and selection of simulated systems, data acquisition systems, load control systems, and measurement methods
  • Review and comment on test requirements, schedules, and systems installation and commissioning procedures
  • Be responsible for Development, Safety of Flight, and Certification testing of new aircraft development programs, and for testing required to resolve in-service aircraft issues including Aircraft On Ground (AOG) situations.

As a Dynamics Test Engineer, you will be asked to:
  • Be responsable for the advanced planning and dynamics testing from testing of components to full aircraft level. Dynamics test activities consist of noise, vibration, modal, and impact/shock testing
  • Participate in the preliminary definition of the rig or test setup with the different Engineering and Design groups
  • Participate in the definition and selection of test fixtures, data acquisition systems, and measurement methods
  • Be required to review and comment on test requirements, schedules, and systems installation and commissioning procedures
  • Be responsible for Development, Safety of Flight, and Certification testing of new aircraft development programs, and for testing required to resolve in-service aircraft issues, including Aircraft On Ground (AOG) situations.

As a Wind Tunnel Test Engineer, you will be asked to:
  • Plan and conduct aerodynamic tests on scaled model for the development of new aircraft. Duties will include test planning and preparation, technical requirements analysis, wind tunnel model design validation, testing as well as data validation and reporting.
  • Tests are performed in North American and European Research Center and consequently require candidates available for 4-8 weeks domestic and international assignments.

As a Ground Test Integrator, you will be asked to:
  • Support all types of Ground Tests such as: Structural Tests (static, fatigue), Systems Tests (iron bird, flight controls, Environmental Control System (ECS), Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI), etc…) and Dynamics Tests (acoustics, vibrations, modal, shock/impact)
  • Support new aircraft development and sustaining programs
  • Interact with multiple work package integrators, engineering specialist/Designated Airworthiness Delegates (DAD) and structural/systems suppliers to establish test strategies and test requirements
  • Coordinate all activities related to test rig definition, design, build, commissioning and test amongst the various functions within Bombardier Aerospace Experimental (BAEX)
  • Review and approve testing deliverables from Program Suppliers with inputs from BAEX Design and Test teams
  • Prepare harmonized schedules for BAEX testing, prepare presentations and provide status/updates on overall activities, schedules, issues and roadblocks to the Project Management Office and Senior Leadership Teams.

As a Flight Test Outfitting Integrator, you will be asked to:
  • Represent the Bombardier Aerospace Experimental (BAEX) organization as a member of the Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) for new aircraft programs
  • Coordinate and/or participate in the review, release and implementation of Flight Test Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs) and the development of Schedules & Estimates for Flight Test outfitting tasks
  • Prepare and ensure "Compliance to Work Share" statements with suppliers for flight test equipment installations during aircraft design and build phases
  • Integrate, coordinate, and manage the release of Flight Test Engineering installations and supplier interface drawings that are required to support the build of flight test vehicles (FTV)
  • Provide assistance and guidance in resolving technical and contractual issues between BAEX, Bombardier Core Engineering, and Suppliers
  • Coordinate with other parties to ensure compatibility of design and test requirements
  • Assist in ensuring accurate records with respect to configuration control and traceability of documentation as per Experimental requirements and procedures
  • Schedule, assign, monitor and provide status/visibility for all tasks related to the experimental equipment outfitting activity of new aircraft development
  • Establish or improve existing BAEX procedures and guidelines to ensure efficient operation of the department within Bombardier, as well as involvement in developing new procedures necessary in coordinating activities with outside Suppliers.

As a Test Integrator (supporting Simulation and Test Work Package (WP7) for a new Aircraft Program), you will be asked to: 
  • Provide technical leadership to WP7 team that manages the experimental and testing performed by the Structural and System WP units
  • Provide technical guidance to WP7 Integrators and Supplier's Test organization for ground and flight test, with respect to FTV outfitting, test rig experimental installations and test facility planning.
  • Recognize and understand the design and build functions within all Bombardier sites
  • Be able to formulate integrated and cost effective solutions for complex problems involving experimental design and build requirements
  • Perform as a technical authority in the field of experimental test build requirements
  • Recognize the implications of experimental activities on other product development functions and be able to devise timely and efficient solutions in the most effective way.
  • Propose solutions to both recurring and unusual problems, based on "lesson learned" experience.
  • Identify and establish the procedures applicable to the assigned development program, enact risk identification and mitigations procedures, modify established guidelines, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions from direct experience in order to improve efficiency.
  • Make technical recommendations that are generally accepted as accurate, cost effective, timely, and feasible.

Qualifications 
As our ideal candidate, 
  • You hold a University degree in an engineering discipline (Master or Doctorate degree will be an asset);
  • You have extensive experience in a test environment in the aerospace industry;
  • You have experience in an aerospace manufacturing company (strong asset for junior position and a requirement for senior position);
  • You have a good knowledge of certification requirements including FAR 25 and ARP 4754;
  • You have experience or knowledge with load control systems (MTS, FCS or alike), data acquisition systems and instrumentation;
  • You have good knowledge of communication busses (ARINC 429, AFDX) and the means to test them;
  • You have knowledge of aircraft systems and aircraft structures (for Structural test position, Ground and Flight test integrator position);
  • You have good knowledge in aerodynamics (for wind tunnel test position)
  • You have the ability to work occasionally at off-site international locations;
  • You have strong communication skills (written and spoken).
