About the Position:

THIS IS AN EXPEDITED HIRING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCEMENT. The Duncan Hunter National Defense Act (NDAA) FY2009 provides that the Secretary of Defense can designate acquisition positions and can recruit and appoint highly qualified persons to these positions. This announcement is open to accept resumes from candidates interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements for the acquisitions of systems, equipment and facilities. 

The Vacancy Announcement will generate a referral and Selection List that is good for ninety (90) days and may be used to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies at the Corpus Christi Army Depot without further public notice. 

This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance and is the world's largest helicopters overhaul and repair facility. CCAD serves as the depot training base for active duty Army, National Guard, Reserve and foreign military personnel. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting.

KEY REQUIREMENTS 
  • Security/criminal background check is required for access on the Navy base. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. 

DUTIES:
You will provide technical assistance to customers to minimize disruptions of computer operations. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the service desk database. Correct a wide variety of technical problems emanating from LINUX based and Microsoft Windows based operating systems and all Depot-Wide Applications. Test and analyze computer hardware and software malfunctions. Utilize LMP (Logistics Modernization Program) and/or Outlook Web Access and be familiar with Enterprise Email. Monitor IT services, e.g., Windows Vista/Windows 7 operating systems, applications e.g., Cisco VPN software, and performs preventive maintenance and minor administration of the same to keep the systems optimized. Responsible for routing unresolved problems to appropriate specialists for resolution. Monitor and maintain the standard client software and hardware configuration. Provide current status of critical systems via network broadcast calls and messaging notifications. Plan, schedule, test, install and remove software patches and upgrades. You will report unauthorized access attempts/breaches. Perform thin client and workstation security lock down. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • To qualify at the GS-09 level an applicant must possess the following: 
  • To qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience to the GS-07 grade level or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Resolving a wide variety of problems, to include LAN and WAN technical problems, Linux and Microsoft windows and operating systems. 2) Test and analyze computer hardware and software malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems and recommend appropriate solutions and acquisitions, and distinguish between equipment, software, and LAN installation and operation problems. 

OR 

  • Masters degree or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a related field 
  • To qualify at the GS-11 level an applicant must possess the following: 
  • To qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Resolving a wide variety of problems, to include LAN and WAN technical problems, Linux and Microsoft windows and operating systems. 2) Test and analyze computer hardware and software malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems and recommend appropriate solutions and acquisitions, and distinguish between equipment, software, and LAN installation and operation problems. 

OR 

Ph.D. or equivalent degree or 3 full years of prgressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field.

Education can be substituted for experience.
