Software Development Engineer - NetApp, Sunnyvale, CA


Job Summary:
Software Development Engineer - NetApp, Sunnyvale, CA - The Software Engineer will be responsible for all aspects related to the manufacturing software creation and support. The Software Engineer will work cross functionally to ensure that the design, development of test platforms, application software, and their implementation to production provide the highest quality of products. The Software Engineer will support the OPS Engineering organization, its world-wide production and Contract Manufacturer’s Engineers, provide timely resolution and delivery recovery for all product, platform, and software issues to ensure on-time deliveries of high quality products. At this level, you will have the opportunity to use your technical expertise to lead projects that will require process analysis and business implication assessment. You will continue to have the opportunity to grow your technical expertise and use your leadership and communication skills to participate in technical or business decisions while coaching more junior engineers and contributing to department goals. Essential Functions:
  • Define, develop and implement highly effective manufacturing test platform and application to ensure product quality, minimize costs and reduce our time to market for new NetApp products.
  • Work with other OPS Engineers to define requirements, implement, and validate them before product launch.
  • Create and maintain document
  • Review, validate, and release new software releases
  • Manage the transfer and set up of new products or new software to a manufacturing site. Provide training and documentation to our manufacturing sites.
  • Monitor software performance and ensure that we have the capacity to meet our customer forecasted demand. Job Requirements Requirements:
  • The candidate should be hands-on and a subject matter expert with software technologies and methods for a variety of computer, storage and networking hardware types.

Demonstrated experience in test development for new products. Experience in test development, test support and production data collection.

  • Very efficient communication skill, both written and verbal
  • Effective to significant skills in project management and leadership
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Storage background and understanding of network topologies is a plus
  • Software experience in: HTML5, HTML, XAML, WCF, C#, Silverlight 5, Visual Studio 2012, VS2010, proficient in SQL 2012 BI, SSRS, Data Warehouse, IIS, .NET, java script
  • Domestic and international travel may be required to audit or transfer products to our suppliers
  • After-hour and week-end support are regularly requested

  • To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through regular leadership and influencing others. Education and Experience Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience is required
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • MCSD (Microsoft Certified Software Developer) a plus
