Job Description
In hp's SeaQuest Database Server R&D team, we develop the systems where customers want the ultimate in reliability, scalability and manageability. We provide the systems that run one of the world’s largest Enterprise Data Warehouse environments. In order to handle these workloads we have developed a state-of-the-art relational database product, SQL/MX, and a new leading edge cloud-like computer platform to host this database system called SeaQuest.
We are looking for outstanding Computer Science or Computer Engineering graduates to join the development team produce one of the largest and highest performing Database systems in existence, and where you will learn fully utilize and exploit the features of the complete SeaQuest Database Server solution.
Activities include assisting with managing very large Massively Parallel – Cloud-like SeaQuest systems with terabytes of database storage and highly complex networking needs, as well as producing core linux based infrastructure middleware, and work on one of the World’s premier Business Intelligence Databases from hp, SQL/MX. Activities involve designing, developing, integrating, and testing these new and extremely large systems in both production and development environments and requires excellent analytical skills.
Other activities include working with team members in an Agile based development environment which involves producing designs and specifications and reviewing these complex solutions with your co-workers. As part of the development organization job activities will also involve analyzing customer problems and product defects, as well as implementing product enhancements. You’ll be part of a highly talented and successful team of engineers working on innovative technologies to build the most scalable and manageable database systems.
Potential areas of your responsibility include direct hands on troubleshooting of problems, tracking down defects to root cause, analyzing customer application performance, designing High Availability Computer Solutions, designing complex Database Internals Enhancements, researching new product features and options for customer needs in the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing environments.
You may work independently or lead small functional project teams.
Qualifications

- BS degree in CS, CE or EE
- MS in CS preferred
Experience and knowledge
